We are delighted to announce that our very own founder & CEO, Matt Macri-Waller, has been selected as a Business Hero by The Times, in association with the Business Growth Fund (BGF).

This fantastic recognition is a direct result of the hard work Matt has put into Benefex since he founded the company in 2003.

The Times have set out to salute British Business Heroes, highlighting that “the UK boasts the most innovative and fast-growing businesses in the world”.

Matt has been chosen amongst other founders and CEOs, such as Morphsuits’ Fraser Smeaton and Colin Stevens of Better Bathrooms, who faced similar problems starting out as Matt. Colin told The Times; “the only problem was that some of the larger suppliers wouldn’t deal with a young guy trading from his bedroom”.

Back in 2003, before Benefex had an impressive client list and full team of experts, Matt also needed a little help getting his message across. He called in his Dad, Peter Waller, who still plays an important role within the company today as Executive Director.

Speaking to The Times from the Benefex office in Southampton, Matt reflected on his story so far and plans for the future. “When people hear that we are a family business, the stereotype is that we must be there making sausages in our wellies, but we have always wanted to be progressive and ambitious. We want to be world-class.”
